Abstract (en)
Axle with a torsion bar suspension and level adjustment comprising a cross member (1) firmly attached to the body and on which two wheel support arms (4a and 4b) are fitted so that they can pivot and are free to translate in the direction of their pivot axis, each arm being connected to the cross member by a torsion bar (7a or 7b) which is parallel to the pivot axis of the arm and is of a length roughly equal to that of the axle, the torsion bar having one of its ends prevented from rotating in relation to the arm and its other end anchored to the cross member adjacent to the other arm. An electric motor (26) with two outputs is supported by the cross member. Each of the motor outputs is connected by a flexible shaft (25) to a reduction gear (13) mounted on a support firmly attached to the cross member adjacent to the anchorage of one of the torsion bars. This motor has means allowing the reduction gear (13) to drive the said anchorage in such a way that the motor (26) simultaneously causes the anchorages of the two bars to pivot by the same angle. <IMAGE>
