[origin: WO8804296A1] Method for the preparation of a lactone colour former by reacting a substituted ethylene with a cyclic aromatic carboxylic anhydride or an intermediate keto acid derived from prior reaction between the anhydride and an aromatic compound, in the presence of a dehydrating agent, wherein following the reaction the solid reaction product formed is separated and washed in an alkaline polar organic solvent with removal of acid or potentially acid materials and of coloured by-products where present.

Procédé pour la préparation d'un chromogène de lactone par réaction d'un éthylène substitué avec un anhydride carboxylique aromatique cyclique ou un céto-acide dérivé d'une réaction précédente entre l'anhydride et un composé aromatique, en présence d'un agent déshydratant, dans lequel à la suite de la réaction, le produit de réaction solide formé est séparé et lavé dans un solvant organique polaire alkalin avec élimination, quand il y a lieu, des substances acides ou potentiellement acides et des sous-produits colorés.
