[origin: EP0292693A2] Brushwear consists of a bristle bearer and bristles which are attached to said bristle bearer in a mechanical or thermal manner and are made of plastic monofilaments which may be grouped into bundles. In order to increase the cleaning, distribution or application function of such brushwear, the monofilaments are flocked with short plastic fibres at least over part of their length. Such brushwear can be manufactured in that the monofilaments are provided on their surface with an adhesive or heated on their surface until reaching the soft plastic state and the fibres are then applied to the monofilament in the electrostatic field. Instead, it is also possible for the fibres to be applied subsequently, e.g. by means of an adhesive, to the bristles connected to the bristle bearer.
