Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0292700A1] A spiral fabric belt, particularly for paper-making machines, is assembled from wires, namely from a multiplicity of adjacent and interlocking wire helices, and, if necessary, from insertion wires coupling together the wire helices and/or from filler wires positioned in the hollow spaces formed by the wire helices, at least some of the wires consisting of a core and a casing surrounding the core. In order that the most variable cross-section patterns of the wires are realisable by a simple manufacturing method, especially of the wire helices, and, moreover, that a great freedom of choice and composition of the materials is available, the core consists of at least two core strands (16, 17; 20, 21, 22, 23; 27, 28, 29; 30, 31, 32) running parallel next to one another and separated by the material of the casing (18, 24, 33, 34). <IMAGE>
