A printed web 2 is cut to the desired sheet length between a grooved, gripper and folding blade cylinder 3 and a cutting cylinder 5 placed against the latter. The resulting printed sheets 17 travel over a belt conveyor 9 to a collection cylinder 10 fitted with grippers 11, from which they are transferred to grippers 13 of a stapling cylinder 12. Stapling can take place after the transfer of the printed sheets 17 to the grooved, gripper and folding blade cylinder 3, from which the stapled or unstapled printed sheets are transferred to the folding jaw cylinder 15 for the production of a cross fold.

Eine Druckträgerbahn 2 wird zwischen einem Nut-, Greifer- und Falzmesserzylinder 3 und einem an diesen angestellten Schneidzylinder 5 auf die gewünschte Formatlänge zugeschnitten. Die entstehenden Druckexemplare 17 gelangen über eine Bandleitung 9 an einen mit Greifern 11 ausgestatteten Sammelzylinder 10, von dem sie an Greifer 13 eines Heftzylinders 12 übergeben werden. Eine Heftung kann nach der Übergabe der Druckexemplare 17 auf den Nut-, Greifer- und Falzmesserzylinder 3 erfolgen, von dem die gehefteten oder ungehefteten Druckexemplare zur Bildung eines Querfalzes an den Falzklappenzylinder 15 übergeben werden.
