Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0293944A2] 2.1 Can crushers are known in which an electric motor acts on a working piston mounted in a working cylinder via a crank disc and a connecting rod. Such crushers are mechanically elaborate, expensive, voluminous and heavy. The object is to provide a can crusher which is relatively simple in mechanical terms, compact and lightweight and simple to operate. 2.2 The object is achieved by a can crusher (1) in which a cable (45) is connected non-positively to a mounting (disc) (41) which can be rotated by means of an axle (42), the disc (41) being driveable by means of an actuating member, a manual actuating lever (4), and in which the axle (42) of the disc (41) is supported on the guide piston (2') and the free cable end (47) is fixed to the working cylinder (3'') or the axle (42) is supported on the guide cylinder (3') and the cable end (47) is fixed to the guide piston (2'). 2.3 The can crusher is used for compressing drinks cans, preserve cans, paint cans, oil cans, and disposable cans. <IMAGE>
