[origin: EP0294795A1] A method for piecing a yarn in a friction-spinning device is characterised in that a package (12) wound on a friction spinning means to a predetermined size is conveyed during piecing by an airstream past a yarn draw off means (6) which in the draw off direction has been arranged downstream of the friction spinning means, and in that the subsequent yarn (5) of adequate strength is introduced into the yarn draw off means (6) after the airstream has been interrupted. This ensures reliable introduction of the yarn (5) into the yarn draw off means (6) and prevents breaking of the yarn (5). Piecing can take place at the normal production speed. <IMAGE>
