Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0295574A2] 2.1. In refuse collection vehicles, in which the filled and removed refuse collection container for intermediate storage, e.g. for a recycling, performs a transporting and storing function for the refuse, considerable space on the chassis is wasted because the refuse is filled into the compression device and is conveyed from this into the refuse collection container. The new refuse collection vehicle is intended to combine a simple construction with an optimum refuse-holding capacity. 2.2. For this purpose, the path of the pusher element (16) extends through the opening (8, 8') into the refuse collection container (5, 5'), so that the compression element in the refuse collection container can be moved to and fro, the refuse-filling opening (7) is furthermore arranged on the refuse collection container, so that the refuse can be compressed solely in the refuse collection container, and, finally, the opening (8, 8') is closed by the compression element (V) when the refuse collection container is situated on the chassis. This gives a simple construction in combination with optimum holding capacity of the refuse collection container. The simple compression device requires little space behind the driver's cab when the refuse collection container is filled directly. 2.3. The refuse collection vehicle is especially suitable for an environmentally conscious refuse disposal with intermediate storage and recycling. <IMAGE>
