Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0296297A2] The irregular shape of the animal skin causes large amounts of leather material to be wasted as fragments, chips, leather meal and other waste, especially from chrome tanned skins, in all branches of the leather processing industry. A sequence of operations has now been worked out by which all this waste can be sorted and pressed with a binder (water-emulsified latex) into plates which are superior in quality to artificial leather made of polymers.
