In the smoke detector according to the invention having a housing component, housing cover and lower photocarrier, as well as having a circuit board, components, an upper photocarrier, labyrinth and signalling cover, the housing component, the housing cover and the lower photocarrier are constructed as an integral housing (10), the housing (10) being formed in the region of the photoelements for the direct reception of a transmitting and/or receiving diode (11, 12) and being of trough-shaped construction in the region of the circuit board (13) for components (16, 17, 18) for the purpose of receiving a sealing compound (22). In the housing (10) a recess (23) for at least one balancing resistor (19), which can be soldered in, is provided on the outside of the trough-shaped area and cannot be reached by the sealing compound. Mit dem Rauchmelder mit Labyrinth (9) und Melderkappe (21) sind die Gehäusekappe und der untere Fototräger als einstückiges Gehäuse (10) ausgebildet, wobei das Gehäuse (10) im Bereich der Fotoelemente für die unmittelbare Aufnahme einer Sende- und einer Empfangsdiode (11, 12) ausgeformt und im Bereich der Leiterplatte (13) für Bauelemente (16, 17, 18) wannenförmig für die Aufnahme einer Vergußmasse (22) ausgebildet ist. Im Gehäuse (10) ist an der Außenseite des wannenförmigen Bereichs, von der Vergußmasse nicht erreichbar, eine Ausnehmung für zumindest einen einlötbaren Abgleichwiderstand vorgesehen ist. Ferner ist an zwei gegenüberliegenden Schmalseiten des Gehäuses (10) jeweils ein nach außen weisender Befestigungsflansch (14) angeformt.
