Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0298069A2] A switch position indicator for high-voltage switchgear is proposed, having a fixed contact 4 (which can be engaged with and disengaged from a moving contact 5), particularly for isolating switches and earthing switches having a fixed contact 4 arranged on a plastic insulator 2, in which the switch position is monitored by an optical fibres 8...13 connected to an evaluation unit 17. From the evaluation unit 17 there passes to one of the two contacts 4, 5 only one optical fibre 8...13, whose end 19 can be covered by the other contact 18, and which consists of an optical fibre having a diameter of approximately 1 mm. The one end 19 can open into an open hole 14, 15 of a contact 4, 5, whose opening can be closed by the other contact 18. The optical fibre 8...13 is preferably passed in the longitudinal direction through the plastic insulator 2, 3 and is embedded therein. To simplify assembly of the plastic insulators 2, 3, the optical fibre 8...13 has a partial piece 10, 11, designed as a plug connection. To detect both switch positions of an isolating switch 1, a second optical fibre 9, 11, 13 is connected to the evaluation unit 17, the other end of this optical fibre forming an optical fibre reflex light barrier with a part of the contact 18. <IMAGE>
