[origin: EP0298481A2] The invention relates to a method and a device for the oxygen-free packaging of product 5, e.g. foodstuffs, in containers 1. It is proposed that liquid nitrogen be metered into the containers 1 immediately before and/or after the product 5 is introduced into the containers. The gaseous nitrogen formed by evaporation of the liquid nitrogen forces the oxygen out of the containers 1. The containers 1 are then transferred to an inert zone 7 into which gaseous nitrogen is passed. Finally, the containers 1 are sealed in the inert zone 7.
