[origin: EP0298914A1] The spray drier (1) for making powders, agglomerates or the like by drying pumpable products has, at the inlet (6) of its discharge line(s) (7) for the drying gas consumed in its drying chamber (3), an air classifier (9) with a rotating bladed wheel (10). The flow generated by the rotating bladed wheel (10) of the air classifier (8) acts against the extraction flow. The fines discharge is directed into the exit air line (7), and the coarse material discharge (8) takes place in the drying chamber (3). Thus, excellent separation of the desired coarse material fraction from the fines fraction is already obtained within the drying chamber. <IMAGE>
