Abstract (en)

[origin: JPS6434843A] PURPOSE: To perform joining work even for a large winding roll within a short time by fixing the tail end of an unwound web in a predetermined position, and similarly positioning the tip of a new web by adhering the same to the cross member of a joining unit. CONSTITUTION: When a parent roll 12 placed in an unwinding position becomes empty, the empty winding frame 26 thereof is transferred to a storage area by the arm 27 of a lifting unit 25, but during this motion, a web 13 placed on the punching comb 48 of a separating device 44 is made tense and separated, a negative pressure is applied to the guiding roll 41 of a holding device 43, and a cross member 46 is returned and fixed. Also, when a new parent roll 12' is transferred to an unwinding position, a joining unit 30 is simultaneously transferred, and when it reaches an unwinding position, the tip 37 of the new web stuck to the cross member 34 of the joining unit 30 is matched with the tail end 45 of the web held in the guiding roll 41. Then, both ends 37 and 45 are joined together by an adhesive tape 52.
