[origin: EP0299318A2] In an undercarriage for railway vehicles, the brake body (3) of a magnetic rail brake or of an eddy-current brake is held by means of a drive device (4) so as to be capable of being lowered or raised between an upper position of rest and a lower operative position and supported in both positions by stops (6 and 1e, respectively). In order to keep the constructional outlay as small as possible and to achieve a moment-free force flow, the drive device (4) is secured to a carrier (1) of the undercarriage frame which does not carry out any resilient movements with respect to the rail (7) so that there is a spacing between carrier (1) and rail (7) which is to this extent constant. In addition, the aforesaid carrier (1) has the stops (1e) which support the brake body (3) in its operative position and are provided in order to avoid moments in the direction of action of the forces occurring. <IMAGE>
