Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0300205A2] In the case of a method for the route-selective reproduction of digitally coded traffic messages which are transmitted from a transmitter to a vehicle receiver and decoded in a decoder of the receiver, a comparison of route-specific features is made with features of the route. If the features coincide to a predetermined extent, the traffic message concerning a driver is conveyed to him by means of a visual and/or audible output device. In a development of this method, the road types and their numerical designations are used as route-specific features. In a further development of this measure, main route sections and route segments can additionally serve as route-specific features. By means of a driving route transmitter, the path already covered can be determined so that only traffic messages which relate to disturbances in route areas which are still to be passed through are transmitted. By additionally evaluating the driving speed, traffic messages relating to distant disturbances which will probably no longer exist when the route section is passed through can be suppressed. The advantage of these measures consists in the fact that the driver is not distracted by a large amount of traffic information which is not relevant to him. <IMAGE>
