Finned tube (1), particularly for heat exchangers, with helically extending or annular fins (2) formed integrally on the outer surface of the tube wherein the fins (2) are defined by the dimensions fin spacing tR , fin height hR and cross-sectional area of the fin AR , wherein the spacing tR is in the range of 1.6 to 3.9 mm (6.5 to 16 fins per inch) and the ratio of cross-sectional area of the fin AR to fin height hR is greater than 0.5 mm, wherein a) the fin height hR is in the range of 0.2 mm to 2.0 mm ; b) the ratio of fin spacing tR to fin height hR is in the range of 1 to 15.
