[origin: EP0301605A2] An apparatus for moving the legs, with a crank (5) mounted on a frame (1), with pedals (7) mounted on this crank, with an arrangement (19, 20) for connecting the feet securely to the pedals (7), and with an electromotor for driving the crank (5) is improved as regards the occurrence of muscle cramps and is thus better adapted to the requirements of patients exercising on their own. The maximum torque provided by the motor is progressively adjustable. An independent electrical control arrangement (18) is provided, which reverses the direction of rotation of the motor when the latter reaches its maximum torque. <IMAGE>
