[origin: EP0302000A2] The invention relates to a process for inexpensively providing a sinter suitable for use in a blast furnace by treatment of the sinter. To improve a conventional treatment process in such a way that corrosion is reduced and the sinter is treated in an environmentally more acceptable way, that, if possible, only a part quantity of the sinter production is treated, a sinter of enhanced disaggregation value can be used and nevertheless the blast furnace campaign is not impaired, it is proposed that sinter material produced on a sintering belt is divided in a manner known per se by precrushing and screening into material which is too fine-grain for use in the blast furnace ("returns"), material which can be used directly ("use grain size I") and too coarse material ("oversize"), that the oversize is converted by further crushing into a grain size which can be used ("use grain size II") and at least the use grain size II is treated with sulphur-containing reagents.
