Abstract (en)
A fuel injector of the type in which a pencil-shaped jet of fuel is directed onto a break-up disc or target (22) for atomization and mixing with the air stream inlet of an internal combustion engine, is arranged so that the air stream passes over opposing surfaces of the target (22). In this way any fuel which might have settled on the injector or the target (22) is carried away by the air stream, thereby reducing unwanted hydrocarbon emissions from the engine.
