Process for the preparation of 1-amino-2-(6'-hydroxyhexyloxy)-4- hydroxyanthraquinone (I) from the corresponding 2-phenoxy- or 2- haloanthraquinone compound and 1,6-hexanediol and, if required, a phenol in the presence of an alkaline medium at elevated temperatures, in which 2 to 6 mol of 1,6-hexanediol are reacted per mol of the anthraquinone compound in the presence of EO adducts of phenols or alkanols and/or polyethylene glycols at 125 to 135 DEG and the reaction mixture obtained is then heated to 140 to 150 DEG C, the 1',6'-bis-(1- amino-4-hydroxyanthraquinonyloxy)-hexane (diether) formed as a byproduct in the first stage being cleaved to give (I). <??>(I) which contains </= 2% by weight of diether is obtained in this manner.

Verfahren zur Herstellung von 1-Amino-2-(6'-hydroxyhexoxy)-4-hydroxyanthrachinon (I) aus der entsprechenden 2-Phenoxy- oder 2-Halogenanthrachinon-Verbindung und Hexandiol-1,6 und gegebenenfalls einem Phenol in Gegenwart eines alkalisch wirkenden Mittels in der Wärme, bei dem je Mol der Anthrachinonverbindung 2 bis 6 Mol Hexandiol-1,6 in Gegenwart von EO-Addukten an Phenolen oder Alkanolen und/oder Polyethylenglykole bei 125 bis 135°C umgesetzt werden und dann das erhaltene Reaktionsgemisch auf 140 bis 150°C erwärmt wird, wobei das als Nebenprodukt in der 1. Stufe gebildete 1',6'-Bis-(1-amino-4-hydroxyanthrachinonyloxy)-hexan (Diether) zu (I) gespalten wird. Man erhält auf diese Weise (I), das <= 2 Gew.% an Diether enthält.
