A recording material is described which essentially consists of a substrate, a photosensitive layer applied thereon and containing a water-insoluble binder which is soluble or at least swellable in aqueous alkali and inorganic solvents, and an o-quinonediazide, and of a second photosensitive layer which contains a diazonium salt which can be decolorised by light and a water-soluble, strongly acidic and film-forming binder, which recording material additionally contains, in the second photosensitive layer, a coupling reagent for the diazonium salt. The recording material is in principle positive-working but may also be negative-working after the addition of a crosslinking agent to the photosensitive layer and after crosslinking. The recording material described has high development contrast.

Es wird ein Aufzeichnungsmaterial beschrieben, das im wesentlichen aus einem Träger, einer darauf aufgebrachten lichtempfindlichen Schicht, enthaltend ein in Wasser unlösliches, in wäßrigem Alkali und in organischen Lösemitteln lösliches, zumindest aber quellbares Bindemittel und ein o-Chinondiazid, sowie aus einer zweiten lichtempfindlichen Schicht besteht, die ein durch Licht entfärbbares Diazoniumsalz und ein in Wasser lösliches, stark saures und filmbildendes Bindemittel enthält und dadurch gekennzeichnet ist, daß es zusätzlich in der zweiten lichtempfindlichen Schicht ein Kupplungsreagenz für das Diazoniumsalz enthält. Das Aufzeichnungsmaterial ist grundsätzlich positiv arbeitend, kann aber auch nach Zugabe eines Vernetzungsmittels zur lichtempfindlichen Schicht und nach der Vernetzung negativ arbeitend sein. Das beschriebene Aufzeichnungsmaterial weist einen hohen Entwicklungskontrast auf.
