[origin: EP0304391A1] On a washing-machine drum, scoop-shaped water-inlet orifices are arranged underneath the drum ribs, with the result that the drum ribs fill with washing fluid from the free liquor during the washing operation. In the drum ribs are water-outlet orifices, through which the fluid can trickle onto the laundry again during the further drum rotation. The water-inlet orifices of the new drum washing machine are to be effective in both directions of rotation of the drum. To assist the scooping effect, the water-inlet orifices (4) are designed as scoop elements (6) shaped out from the drum casing. The water-inlet orifices (4) are aligned alternately in order to take effect in both directions of rotation of the drum. The drum equipped with scooping elements is preferably used in domestic washing machines. <IMAGE>
