A method is proposed for controlling the glow plugs of a self- igniting combustion engine by means of an interface (1) arranged between an electronic engine control (MS) and a glow time control instrument, in which individual, non-interacting glow processes are distinguished. At the same time the power supply to the glow plugs during the glow processes is controlled by the use of the information present in the engine control unit. <IMAGE>

Es wird ein Verfahren zur Ansteuerung von Glühkerzen einer selbstzündenden Brennkraftmaschine mittels einer zwischen einer elektronischen Motorsteuerung (MS) und einem Glühzeitsteuergerät angeordneten Schnittstelle (1) vorgeschlagen, bei dem einzelne, untereinander entkoppelte Glühvorgänge unterschieden werden. Dabei wird die Leistungszufuhr zu den Glühkerzen bei den Glühvorgängen unter Verwendung der in der Motorsteuerung vorhandenen Informationen gesteuert.
