[origin: EP0306017A2] A device for cutting slices of fruit, vegetables or the like, having a knife-holding plate (3) at the front edge of which a straight or inclined or V-shaped cutting knife (4) is arranged, the knife-holding plate (3) being arranged on two parallel sides in two parallel frame strips (1, 2), arranged substantially perpendicularly to it, at their rear ends, having a supporting plate (7) which can be inserted into guide grooves (5) in the frame strips (1, 2), parallel to the knife-holding plate (3) and at a variable vertical distance from the cutting knife (4). In order to be able to cut slices of virtually any thickness, the supporting plate (7) consists of two parts, the distance between which is adjustable, one part (10) serving to guide the product to be cut and one insertion part (6) serving for insertion into the guide grooves (5). The distance between the parts (10, 6) is adjusted by means of a screw-thread mating assembly (11) or via wedge surfaces. <IMAGE>
