The transverse thruster consists of a transverse-thrust passage, formed in the hull and consisting of a tunnel tube, and a transmission housing arranged in this transverse-thrust passage and having a propeller, air-discharge openings (30) being formed in or at the wall (22) of the tunnel tube (21) in order to reduce noise during start-up, which air-discharge openings (30) are connected to an air compressor via at least one air-supply tube (31) and are of appropriate size for forming a finely distributed air flow. <IMAGE>

Das Querstrahlruder für Schiffe besteht aus einem in dem Schiffskörper ausgebildeten, aus einem Tunnelrohr bestehenden Querschubkanal und einem in diesem angeordneten Getriebegehäuse mit einem Propeller, wobei zur Geräuschminderung während der Inbetriebnahme in oder an der Wand (22) des Tunnelrohres (21) Luftaustrittsöffnungen (30) ausgebildet sind,die über mindestens ein Luftzuführungsrohr (31) mit einer Drucklufterzeugungseinrichtung verbunden sind und die zur Ausbildung eines fein verteilten Luftstromes eine entsprechende Größe aufweisen.
