[origin: EP0306706A1] In looms, in which the dancing roller (15) directly follows the beam (10) and the warp yarn (13) partially loops round the dancing roller (15), the change of the diameter of the beam (10) as a result of the unwinding of the warp yarn (13) and the associated change of the looping angle of the warp yarn (13) round the dancing roller (15) have hitherto not been taken into account in the control or regulation. This leads to losses of quality in the woven material. To allow for the changes in diameter of the beam (10), the working position of the dancing roller (15) is varied during the unwinding of the warp yarn (13). It is thereby possible to keep the tension in the unwound warp yarn (13) constant and to achieve a uniformly high quality of the woven material. <IMAGE>
