[origin: EP0306788A2] In continuous casting, portions of a certain length have hitherto been cut off from the cast strand. In the case of slabs above a certain width, the slab is then divided longitudinally in a separate installation. According to the invention, longitudinal division is effected with a high-pressure liquid-jet cutting nozzle before transverse division.
