[origin: EP0307769A2] In the knitting machine with a thread-changing device with knotter, in which a thread is guided from the knotter (10) via a thread storage device (30) to a thread processing station (16), the thread length between the knotter and the thread processing station is always kept the same, so that the control device (20) has fixed data for this length available for the purpose of triggering the formation of a knot during the thread change. Moreover, the drive movement of the knitting machine (17) is monitored by means of a path transmitter (22) which, independently of the needle division of a needle bed, supplies for each unit of path length a predetermined number of pulses which are evaluated as clock pulses in the control device (20).
