[origin: EP0308314A1] Process for the ozone treatment of lignocellulosic material, especially of paper pulp, according to which the material is brought to the desired moisture content beforehand in order that the ozonation reaction may take place under optimum conditions, characterised in that the material brought to the desired moisture content is reduced to a sufficient state of division to ensure an interface of maximum value between the ozone-carrier gas and the fibrous solid and in that the said material is then subjected to ozonation by means of a carrier gas in which the ozone concentration is between 4 and 10% on a mass basis in relation to the said carrier gas. <IMAGE>
