Abstract (en)

The pneumatic clamp, e.g for a thread in a weaving machine, consists of a tubular suction element (2) with a closed tip (6) and a suction intake (3) which is able to interact with a single thread (4). A guide surface (5) directs the thread into position in front of the intake. The guide surface is in the form of a V-section recess, with the intake in the base of the V. the suction can be provided by a single suction channel inside the tubular element, or by two channels - one an air feed channel and the other a return channel shaped to create the suction at the intake orifice. The clamp can also be equipped with a sensor element to detect a thread in front of the intake.
