[origin: EP0309439A1] A firing mechanism for automatic hand guns has a hammer (4) cocked during the breech return, a continuous firing lever (6) controlled by the breech (5) and blocking the hammer (4) during the breech advance, a trigger slide (8) displaceable by the trigger counter to spring force out of an initial position into a single firing position and a continuous firing position, and a pair of levers (14, 15) which penetrates into the path of movement of a hammer extension (21) as a function of the position of the trigger slide and which interacts as a trip and interrupt. <??>To achieve a simple firing mechanism which is functionally reliable and, above all, has a low and short construction, the trip and interrupt levers (14, 15) are mounted pivotably about a common vertical axis of rotation (17) and form between them, by means of mutually opposite control edges (19, 20), a control slot (16), into which a sliding block (13) movable via the trigger slide (8) engages, and when the trigger is pulled the control movement of the sliding block (13) in relation to the control edges (19, 20) pivots the pair of levers (14, 15) counter to the force of a return spring (18) out of an initial position, in which the trip lever (14) grasps the hammer extension (21) of the cocked hammer (4), into a single firing position, in which the trip lever (14) releases the hammer extension (21) and the interrupt lever (15) penetrates into the path of the hammer extension, or into a continuous firing position, in which the two levers (14, 15) release the hammer extension (21). <IMAGE>
