[origin: EP0309850A2] In directional radio and satellite radio, energy lines which have as small a loss as possible are required between apparatuses and antennas. Waveguides are used for this purpose in the higher frequency bands (GHz band). In order to reduce their attenuation at frequencies above 10 GHz it is possible to operate them in a low attenuation manner in overmoded operation and to use a mode filter to attenuate higher wave-mode types. In order to achieve an energy transmission which has as little loss as possible and is free of higher wave-mode types, the invention provides a bisected mode filter, each half mode filter being inserted in a flush terminating manner in the respective end region of two waveguide sections which are to be connected to one another and being held only by narrow, lateral foam webs resting on their inner wall. <IMAGE>
