The device comprises inside a casing (11): a stationary contact (12) and a moving contact (13) which is carried by a displaceable arm (19), with elastic return on closing; a release device comprising a release (16) and a lock (34) which is able to act on the contact- carrying arm (19) in the opening direction in response to a short- circuit detected by the release (16); an arc-cutting screen (27) driven by the release (16) in response to a short-circuit; a manual control member (60) connected to the contact-carrying arm (19); and a member (31) able to lower the intensity threshold of the release device in response to a manually controlled opening so as to permit the driving of the screen (27) by means of the release (16) at the time of a manual opening. <IMAGE>

L'appareil selon l'invention comporte dans un boîtier (11) : un contact fixe (12) et un contact mobile (13) porté par un bras déplaçable (19), avec rappel élastique à la fermeture ; un dispositif de déclenchement comprenant un déclencheur (16) et une serrure (34) apte à agir sur le bras porte-contact (19) dans le sens d'ouverture en réponse à un court-circuit détecté par le déclencheur (16) ; un écran (27) de coupure d'arc entraîné par le déclencheur (16) en réponse à un court-circuit ; un organe manuel de commande (60) relié au bras porte-contact (19) ; et un organe (31) apte à abaisser le seuil d'intensité du dispositif de déclenchement en réponse à une ouverture par commande manuelle de manière à permettre l'entraînement de l'écran (27) au moyen du déclencheur (16) lors d'une ouverture manuelle.
