[origin: EP0310694A1] The tennis ball collecting device has a collection channel (3), forming a game boundary at the rear, a rising rolling surface, extending from the court surface to the front edge of the collection channel (3), and a damping apparatus for catching the tennis balls. In order to minimise the production and assembly costs, to increase the effectivity and efficiency of the device and to improve the durability compared to the prior art, provision is made for the damping apparatus to consist of a terminating boundary (5) at the rear which does not allow the tennis balls through. Furthermore, a damping curtain (9), which is not tensioned towards the bottom and hangs down freely, is situated with spacing from said terminating boundary offset towards the front and above the collection channel (3). <IMAGE>
