Apparatus for making vessels, open at least at one side, from cement, for instance from cement mortar and a reinforcement consisting of glass fibres (39), comprising a mould (1) with horizontally positioned mould walls (2-5) which are constructed essentially flat and are hinged about at least one quadrant by hinges (25-27) on the edges of a mould base (29), characterised in that the mould walls (2-5) are provided at their adjoining edges (6-13) with mould fasteners (14-17) which can be unlatched when the mould is closed and which can be latched when the mould is being closed, wherein the hinged mould parts (2-5) have bent edge strips (32-33) on their joint edges of a minimum width corresponding to the vessel wall thickness.
