[origin: EP0311213A1] The invention has for its object to perform the packing of an object in a highly reliable, simple and inexpensive manner. With that aim in view, the invention proposes a method of the kind stated which is characterized by the following steps: (1) the furnishing of a first (3) and of a second (5) sheet of shrink foil, (2) the furnishing of a support surface, (3) the furnishing of the object (20) to be packed, (4) the placing of the first sheet on the support surface, (5) the placing of the object on that first sheet, (6) the laying of the second sheet over the object, such that the first and the second sheet lie one over the other with an edge zone completely encircling the object, (7) the fusing together by heat of at least two parts of the edge zone extending on either side of the object, so that a provisionally packed object is obtained, and (8) the subjecting of that provisionally packed object to a heat treatment, such that both foils shrink and a packed object is obtained. Also the invention provides an apparatus for carrying out such method.
