Hold-down jaw for use in vices, equipped with a bearing jaw (6) and a clamping jaw (7), the clamping jaw being able to perform a hold-down movement with respect to the bearing jaw on application of the gripping force. The clamping jaw (7) is mounted on the bearing jaw (6) pivotably about a horizontal pivot axis (8), which is arranged in the upper region of the bearing jaw (6). The clamping jaw (7) possesses, on its side facing the workpiece (4), a gripping edge (9) or gripping face, which is adjoined towards the top by a plane gripping face (10) and towards the bottom by a flank (11). The restoring springs are in the form of tension springs (12) and are thus designed to absorb the gripping forces within the elastic range. <IMAGE>

Niederzugsbacke zum Einsetzen in Schraubstöcke mit einer Lagerbacke (6) und einer Klemmbacke (7) ausgestattet, wobei die Klemmbacke beim Aufbringen der Spannkraft gegenüber der Lagerbacke eine Niederzugsbewegung ausführen kann. Die Klemmbacke (7) ist an der Lagerbacke (6) um eine horizontale Schwenkachse (8) schwenkbar gelagert, die im oberen Bereich der Lagerbacke (6) angeordnet ist. Die Klemmbacke (7) weist auf ihrer dem Werkstück (4) zugekehrten Seite eine Spannkante (9) oder Spannfläche auf, an die sich nach oben eine ebene Spannfläche (10) und nach unten eine Freifläche (11) anschließen. Die Rückstellfedern sind als Spannfedern (12) und damit zur Aufnahme der Spannkräfte im elastischen Bereich ausgebildet.
