[origin: US4921295A] The entry rolls of a carriage for an ambulance stretcher are arranged at the carriage frame in such a manner that they are displaceable in lengthwise direction to the frame. At the front end of the carriage frame, the entry rolls can be locked by an arresting mechanism in a predetermined position relative to the frame. By releasing the arresting mechanism when the carriage is thrust into the transport vehicle, the entry rolls are shifted backwardly with respect to the frame toward the front legs until they are finally arranged directly under the front rollers of the ambulance stretcher disposed on the carriage.
