Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0311987A1] For piecing a yarn on an open-end spinning machine (1), the yarn (10, 30) is fed back to the spinning machine (1) via a common feedback path either from the bobbin, onto which it was previously wound during the spinning operation, or from a special piecing bobbin (3). Both the piecing yarn (30) drawn off from the piecing bobbin (1) and the yarn (10) drawn off from the bobbin are, after piecing has been carried out, first subjected at the start of this common feedback path to the effect of a controllable draw-off and are guided away. The yarn supplied by the spinning machine (1) is subjected to the effect of the normal spinning draw-off only after the full drawing-off speed is reached and is transferred to an empty tube located in the spooling device (13), the excess yarn portion together with the leader being severed and conveyed away. For supplying the piecing yarn (30) to a feedback device (20), there is a supply device (5) with a pair of auxiliary rollers (52), of which one roller (520) can be advanced as a driving roller (24) to the bobbin lifted off from the spooling roller (130) and can be driven by means of a controllable drive (404). <IMAGE>
