A method for making bimetallic coins and medals by joining together, by plastic flow, a ring and a blank, characterised in that: - use is made of a blank comprising, on its periphery, a discontinuous groove, - the said blank is positioned in the said ring, and - in a single operation, the ring is crimped onto the blank and the coin is minted using a die whose action causes the metal of the ring to flow towards the blank and towards the discontinuous groove provided on the periphery of the said blank and the whole is die-stamped, that is to say the surface of the coin or of the medal is formed. <IMAGE>

La présente invention concerne un procédé pour la fabrication de pièces monétaires ou de médailles bimétalliques par solidarisation par fluage d'une couronne avec un flan, caractérisé en ce que : - on utilise un flan comportant, sur son pourtour, une gorge discontinue, - on positionne ledit flan dans ladite couronne, et - on réalise en une seule opération le sertissage de la couronne sur le flan et le monnayage de la pièce en utilisant une matrice dont l'action provoque le fluage de métal de la couronne vers le flan et vers la gorge discontinue ménagée sur le pourtour dudit flan et l'estampage de l'ensemble c'est-à-dire la formation de la surface de la monnaie ou de la médaille.
