[origin: EP0312945A1] In order to be able to separate layers of ice or compacted snow from the road and then remove it in a simple, straightforward manner, a vehicle dispenses a liquid, in particular heated water or a solution of a thawing agent, simultaneously through a plurality of high-pressure nozzles (11), which are arranged in rows running longitudinally and/or transversely with respect to the travelling direction and are spaced apart by a few centimetres, in the form of sharply focussed high-pressure jets in an essentially vertical direction, the jets at the same time cutting up the layer of ice or compacted snow to be removed as they are moved through the nozzles between said layer and the road. As a result of the liquid pressure and the simultaneous thawing action, the layer of ice or compacted snow is broken up into fragments and at the same time separated. The fragments can then be removed in a simple manner, for example by a snowplough, a sweeping device or the like. <IMAGE>
