Abstract (en)

1. Apparatus for producing portable, tubular packs from printed products, such as newspapers, periodicals and the like, wound up into a roll and fed in an imbricated formation, and from a retaining element in sheet form, running around the roll, for keeping the roll together, having a feed (12, 14), which is upstream of a winding location (18) for the printed products (16) and the retaining element (84) and fixes the path of movement of the imbricated formation (S), and a delivery device (82) for the retaining element (84), which device opens out into the path of movement of the printed products (16) on the side which comes to rest on the outside of the roll during winding-up, characterized in that the retaining element (84) is a section of a sheet (94') of plastic unwound from a supply roll (94), and the delivery device (82) has a surface (102) which is driven in a circulating manner constantly in the conveying direction (K) of the sheet (94') and opens out into the path of movement of the imbricated formation (S), against which surface the sheet (94') unwound from the supply roll (94) and tensioned is in contact in a certain region, and in that means are provided for the step-by-step advancement of the sheet (94') as well as means (154) which are downstream of the surface (102) and can be activated once the sheet has been advanced, for severing the section.
