Abstract (en)

Known laundry dryers of the open air circuit type are equipped with a resiliently extensible conduit which may be connected to one of several discharge outlets formed in different walls of the dryer housing for the discharge of the moist drying air to the ambient environment. When not in use, the conduit is detached from the dryer and has to be stored in a rather inconvenient manner. In other known embodiments the extensible conduit is permanently connected to the dryer and can be housed in a chamber thereof when not in use. The fixed connection of the conduit limits the flexibility regarding the installation of the dryer. According to the invention, the discharge device comprises a tubular receptacle (14) for the extensible conduit (13), and coupling rings (15, 16) secured to both ends of the conduit. In operation the coupling rings (15, 16) serve for connecting the ends of the conduit (13) to one of several discharge outlets (9, 10, 11, 12) of the dryer and to a diffuser element (20), a ventilation passage or the like. In the inoperative state the extensible conduit (13) is held under compression in the tubular receptacle by connecting the coupling rings (15, 16) to respective ends of the receptacle (14), which may thus be conveniently stored. The tubular receptacle (14) may also be permanently installed in a wall of a room or the like to act as a ventilation passage and at the same time as a storage container for the extensible conduit when not in use.
