Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0314592A2] The present invention relates to a composite ribbon for label-printing machines and to a machine using such a ribbon. <??>The composite ribbon consists of a band (2), on which are formed uniformly spaced printable zones, and of an inking ribbon (4) of a width equal to or smaller than that of the band (2), covering at least the printable zones and fixed to these and/or to the band (2). <??>The printing machine comprises a magazine, in which a ribbon (1) arranged in the form of a roll is located, a heating printing head (5) which prints the printable zone located under it by transferring the ink from the ribbon (4), and a continuous-advance drive device (7) which interacts frictionally with the ribbon (1) in order to bring a new printable zone under the head (5). Said machine is equipped upstream of the printing head (5), in the path of the composite ribbon and at an adjustable distance from this printing station, with a means (11) for detecting the printable zones, which transmits a signal to its control members of the machine which, at the end of a predetermined time, command the printing of the printable zone located under the head. <IMAGE>
