[origin: EP0314851A1] In the print head (1) of a needle matrix printer with an adjustable print needle guide (2), there is provided a print needle drive module (3) and a print needle guide module (5) facing a platen (4), the guide module possessing a housing (8) which guides the print needles (7). In the region of the print needle guide module (5) there is a lifting electromagnet (9) with an adjustment screw (12) for the magnet core (13), which together with a needle guide support (15) forms an adjustable working air gap (14). In this way, the needle guide support (15) can be moved backwards and forwards between two positions which can be permanently set. <??>In order to obtain print needle guidance which operates precisely and is also suitable for shorter, more bend-resistant print needles, it is proposed that the lifting electromagnet (9) is arranged with its central coil axis (16) vertical to the central axis (17) of the print head (1) of a needle matrix printer and running in the printing direction of the print needles (7) and that the magnet core (13) movable in a guide is connected to a needle guide support (15) capable of parallel adjustment. <IMAGE>
