Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0314935A2] The invention relates to the manufacture of a steel rod, e.g. a concrete-reinforcing rod, having hot-rolled ribs for screwing on an anchoring or connection element provided with a corresponding internal thread. To produce a continuous thread by hot rolling, ribs each extending over only a part of the rod circumference are, in a first processing step, formed on opposite sides of the steel rod by hot rolling. In a second, immediately following processing step, the ribs extending over the intermediate regions of the rod circumference are formed. This is accomplished by two pairs (A, B) of motionally interconnected rolls arranged directly in series and at a 90<o> offset relative to one another, whose rolls (I, II and III, IV) forming the rolling gap have a profiling suitable for forming the thread ribs. <IMAGE>
