A flat-bed knitting machine has facing needle beds (1) and knitting needles (4) arranged in needle slots (2) in the needle beds (1). The knitting needles are maintained horizontally on the bottom (3) of the needle slots by needle retaining bars (7) perpendicular to the needle slots (2). Springs (9, 10) are arranged along and below the neddle retaining bars (7) and above the knitting needls (4), in order to compensate the manufacturing tolerances and to ensure reliable and perfect guiding of the knitting needles (4) lying on the bottom (3) of the needle slot.

Eine Flachstrickmaschine weist einander gegenüber angeordnete Nadelbetten (1) und in Nadelkanälen (2) der Nadelbetten (1) angeordnete Stricknadeln (4) auf, die mittels quer zu den Nadelkanälen (2) verlaufenden Nadeldeckschienen (7) auf dem Nadelkanalgrund (3) liegend gehalten sind. Zum Ausgleich von Fertigungstoleranzen und sicheren, einwandfreien Führen der Stricknadeln (4) auf dem Nadelkanalgrund (3) liegend sind unter der Nadeldeckschiene (7) und über den Stricknadeln (4) längs der Nadeldeckschiene (7) verlaufende Federmittel (9, 10) vorgesehen.
