Method and appts. of hot rolling a fragile strip. During the hot rolling operation, both side portions of a roll body including the portions of the same which are in the vicinity of the strip edge-contacting portions thereof are heated so as to control the heat crown of the roll. The rolling equipment has a heating unit capable of varying a heating range in the lengthwise direction of a rolling roll, and temp. sensors arranged in the lengthwise direction of the roll, and is capable of controlling the heating range of the heating unit according to temp. information from the temp. sensors.

Procédé de laminage à chaud de bandes fragiles, et installation permettant d'appliquer ce procédé. Pendant un laminage à chaud effectué selon ce procédé, les deux parties latérales d'un corps de cylindre comprenant les parties de ce même corps qui sont à proximité des parties du corps en contact avec le bord de la bande sont chauffées de manière à réguler la déformation thermique du cylindre. L'installation de laminage présente une unité chauffante pouvant faire varier une plage de chauffe dans le sens de la longueur d'un cylindre de laminage, et une pluralité de capteurs de température disposés dans le sens de la longueur, et peut faire varier la plage de chauffe de l'unité chauffante en fonction des informations de température provenant des capteurs de température.
