In an electric fan with a flat housing (cladding) with opposing air inlet and outlet apertures and a circular grid arranged freely rotatably in the air outlet aperture opposite the housing, which grid determines the blowing direction of the airflow produced by the impeller wheel, in order to create a space-saving drive for impeller wheel and grid the drive motor (1) for the impeller wheel (4, 5) and a reduction gear (8) is arranged on a support (2) belonging to the housing, the output shaft (9) of the reduction gear (8) being formed parallel to the axis of the impeller wheel and off-centre in relation to this and carrying a pinion (10) which meshes with a gear rim (11) which is centrally arranged transversely on the inside of the grid (6). <IMAGE>

Bei einem elektrischen Ventilator mit einem flachen Gehäuse (Verkleidung) mit einander gegenüberliegenden Luftein- und -austrittsöffnungen und einem in der Luftaustrittsöffnung gegenüber dem Gehäuse frei drehbar angeordneten runden Gitter, das die Blasrichtung des vom Laufrad erzeugten Luftstroms bestimmt, ist zur Bildung eines platzsparenden Antriebs für Laufrad und Gitter auf einer zum Gehäuse gerhörigen Stütze (2) der Antriebsmotor (1) für das Laufrad (4, 5) und ein Untersetzungsgetriebe (8) angeordnet, die Austrittsachse (9) des Untersetzungsgetriebes (8) parallel zur Achse des Laufrades und außermittig zu dieser ausgebildet und ein Ritzel (10) trägt, das mit einem Zahnkranz (11) kämmt, der mittig quer auf der Innenseite des Gitters (6) angeordnet ist.
